Why do chasing clouds,
Yearning for the summer sky,
Shine so brightly?

In a sky-blue chair,
Someone was smiling,
But all that remains are shadows.

A hat whisked away by the wind,
Is sitting atop the water’s surface,
Searching for a place to sink.

Nonetheless it seems to be,
In such a cheerful way,
Gazing up at the sky.

If we scatter the leaves, going down a narrow path,
The smells of winter are right by our side.

Migratory birds that fell behind their flock,
Fly south as if saying, “we don’t want to be alone!”
The wind hastens.

In that chair, following someone’s departure,
Loneliness is sitting quietly.

You’ve done well to come so far;
I’m sure you’ll be there,
Until autumn reaches its end.

Aves migratorias que caen detrás de su bandada,
Vuelan hacia el sur como diciendo: “¡no queremos estar solas!”
El viento se precipita.

En aquella silla, siguiendo la despedida de alguien,
La soledad se sienta en silencio.

Lo has hecho bien para llegar hasta aquí;
Estoy segura que estrás allí.
Hasta que el otoño llegue a su final.
