The romaji team uses a combination of automated and manual checking to produce romanized lyrics so that anyone can read or sing along to their favorite songs, regardless of their knowledge of Japanese characters.
If you want to join the romaji team, you should be:
You must be able to listen to a song and make any necessary changes to automatically converted romaji, keeping an ear out for words with multiple readings and pronunciations.
You don't need to be fluent in Japanese to produce accurate romaji, but knowledge of basic Japanese grammar and the ability to read hiragana and katakana will help you resolve questions in romanization more quickly.
You should be able to commit to a steady pace of work (if you want to submit more, that's great too!). We try to keep pace with new releases as well.

The English translation team is the first line of translation on Lyrical Nonsense, creating accurate English translations from Japanese source lyrics.
If you want to join the English translation team, you should be:
Your command of Japanese must be advanced. There are several unique challenges in song translation that require a deeper and more nuanced knowledge of the language, much more so than everyday conversation. You should be able to understand the complete meaning of full phrases, rather than piecing it together line by line. You should be ready to handle unstated subjects, ambiguous clause boundaries, omitted particles, and abstract imagery.
You must be able to communicate a given artist's voice, including wordplay, figures of speech, and other elements, in grammatically and idiomatically correct English.
We often collaborate to raise the quality of each release. You should be open to suggestions, evaluate them objectively, and be willing to make changes as needed.
