I was dreaming of a future, one like something out of Shonen Jump
On the lookout for when you’d be in a tough spot, and for when I’d have a chance to shine
Each night, my dreams, like something out of Shonen Jump
Were so frantic that each time I awoke, covered in sweat, I’d gasp for dear life when I said to Mom
“Good morning”
A seat by the window, next to you
Being late to school, being made to clean as punishment, nodding off in class
I mean, heroes gotta do all that, yeah?
I don’t really have any expectations
To use any of those showy, affected lines
But each night, I’m studiously, secretly practicing them in the bath
I’m nurturing a secret, told to no one
So that I can entrust it to my future heroine
I was dreaming of a future, one like something out of Shonen Jump
On the lookout for when you’d be in a tough spot, and for when I’d have a chance to shine
I know that future is waiting for me, one where the plot will twist dramatically
It’s so much cooler if, when the hero wins, he’s all bloodied up, right?
That’s why now, I’ll wrap myself snugly in my worn, tattered heart… and dream
Knock it off with that hunched-over pose
The one you adopted to be better aligned with your shrunk, diminished heart
Even if you look down, I’m not there
“Hey. Hey! I’m up here!”
That boy from back then is sitting in the very front row, looking at not just someone, somewhere… but at you
Looking only at you… that hero for only you… is looking only at you
Turning on the narration, I watch without even blinking once
“Starting here, finally, our hero stands and faces towards glory
Gripping his bloodied pride tightly, ever more tightly
He goes to claim his revenge, to seize back himself”
And with that, the boy also stands, and strains his voice to its very limits
And finally, the door is opened, shining with light
I was dreaming of a future, one like something out of Shonen Jump
When I’m in a tough spot, that’s my chance to shine… that’s what I was on the lookout for, right?

It’s so much cooler if, when the hero wins, he’s all bloodied up, right?
That’s why for now, I don’t have to hide my worn, tattered heart… it’s okay to just cry
