Pushed out in front of the headlights, we walked along the highway,
Holding hopes for where it might lead as we dreamed of Shangri-La.
No matter who may doubt me, I love you and everything about you;
If the Gods were to exist, I’m sure they’d say the same.
We don’t care what’s done or said to us;
We won’t bat an eyelid, no matter if we’re wounded.
So take my hand and come with us,
To somewhere far away that isn’t “here”.
Right now, we don’t believe in endless sorrow –
We were looking up at the sun, standing squarely on the ground.
Nonetheless, we dream, and connect each morning as we try to fly…
Shall we simply take it all in and smile together?
Led on by the taillights, we walked along the highway.
We suddenly noticed we were burdened, unable to cast away our heavy luggage.
But we can’t blame that on anyone else, so let’s put an end to this song of regret;
Let’s say goodbye to the city lights shining far off and look onward.
Even if I’m spoken ill of or made fun of,
If you’ll only look intently at me,
I’ll feel like I can use the kind of magic,
That glitters and sparks aloud!
Right now we’re far from believing in a cruel end –
We, as unbelievers, crawl up endlessly!
The wind blows, and wherever we try to go, it takes us beyond our connected footprints,
Wishing us well on this journey that’s still not over.
Is that all? If that’s what light is, I have no need for it –
I’m living just fine as it is, so there’s no cause for concern.
With nowhere to return home to, we’ve been constantly running toward what’s beyond;
No matter where we might end up, let’s just laugh like crazy!
Right now, we don’t believe in endless sorrow –
We were looking up at the sun, standing squarely on the ground.
Nonetheless, we dream, and connect each morning as we try to fly…
Shall we simply take it all in and smile together?
