Last night’s dream still won’t leave my mind.
While hanging up my laundry, cherry blossom trees caught my eye.
They were blooming beautifully… proudly…
Dancing nimbly.

Too far along to have noticed its arrival, the season is spring.
With a stuffy nose brought on by hay fever, I extend a friendly, “Welcome home”.

Wanting to hear your voice, I tried calling. It just kept ringing, with no sign of ending.
But I knew that would happen. I’m being so unfair.
There’s a ton of them blooming again this year! They’re blooming in full force, as they always do!
When I look up to the sky, the petals dance nimbly.

Wearing our sweatpants, we’d always go to the convenience store by the station.
But its door no longer opens. There’s a poster that says “Available for Lease”.
The cityscape I once saw with you is changing bit by bit.

Even the warm feelings I’ve been able to recall… will soon be forgotten.

I ran outside without my shoes; the asphalt was unexpectedly cold,
Even though it’s all my fault!
Even so, my heart was calling out to you… we called back and forth, using our secret names for one another…
But when I turned to look, your shadow danced nimbly.

I’ll wave my hand… as you dance through the sky… from beneath this cherry blossom tree.
The stray cat… that was always so attached to you… cried out.
