I don’t really have the appetite—it’s not because I’m short on change.
Looking at your face, that’s what I feel like saying.
Though if the world were to face a crisis tomorrow, and I were given the role of saving it,
I’d be able to try harder… I’d look pretty awesome. What a fantasy. What a fantasy.
Then
You would hold my lifeless body. With tears in your eyes,
You’d whisper: “You really can do it when you try!”
I’m always the hero! You can laugh if you want.
Life is nothing more than a single act of a comedy.
“Leave this to me!” I say,
But what should I do now? A hero at the edge of a cliff.
Even so, world crises don’t come along too often.
On the other hand, life crises manage to plague even me.
But even if I end up alone, I’ve got my dreams! Even if my dreams fall through, I’ve got my spirit!
Even if I’ve got no spirit left, as long as I have my life…
“But what if you lose your life too?” I can almost hear her saying it now…
Then,
In the depths of an absolutely desperate situation,
The single blow that turns the tide will surely be born of anger, or sorrow.
I’m always the hero! I don’t care if I get hit.
The color of my nosebleed is as white as lingering snow in the countryside.
Following a series of losses, covered in scars,
But still rising to the challenge: A hero at the edge of a cliff.
A life spent counting loose change, calculated from the wrong direction.
A life of being pushed into a corner, cut short by a noose.
You hear about these things all the time. They’re not surprising at all.
The world might actually be in a crisis right now, ’cause no one asks for these things.
I might be able to try harder— I might look pretty awesome—
If I could do something about it right here and now, I’m sure I would!
But even if I plead to the world, “Please, come to an end”… it still goes on, just as shitty as ever.
“Everyone’s a hero!” There’s no way that could be true.
That’s what you’d call utter nonsense.
For those who don’t get discouraged even then,
It’s quite common they’ll end up thinking they’re always the hero.
It’s an absolutely desperate, hopeless situation.
Even so, I’ll say it: I’m always the hero!
