The scent of gardenias
Melts into the twilight
My cheeks are wet from the evening shower,
But it hides my tears instead
The umbrella you held out to me
Still has your warmth
The spray of love bounces with that warmth
And I am bewildered, I surrender to the rain as it falls
Telling myself it’s the rain’s fault
I can’t take my eyes off you
Even though I know it’s just a temporary love
I don’t want to hear any good-byes
Until we’re out of the rain
I told him I’d return the umbrella I’d borrowed,
And we met up with him over the turnstiles
I look for a reason to see him one more time,
But time just keeps passing
Talking to myself echoes as if to be heard
I can’t control my impetuous mind
Love is waning
Without a last wish to be selfish
Emptiness dries up my heart
And I reach for the rain clouds
A momentary kiss to cheat,
Interrupting your parting words
I pretend not to notice your confused eyes
I’m on my way home when it started to rain,
I’m in the same umbrella as that day
I’ll forget all about this love when tomorrow comes,
So I want the rain to keep falling for now
And hide just the two of us
When I look at you,
My cheeks will be wet with a temporary love
I hold on to the love
Like a shelter from the rain that the rain gave to just the two of us
For the last time
The sound of goodbye
Dissolving into the morning glow
In the passing rain that ran
Through the dream I still see
