With spring yet far off
The road before me is covered in powdered snow
On the steely footpath above
Are faint shadows curled up in a ball
Multi-tenant buildings line the streets,
Like splinters of wood tossed about by the night
Songs not even in the karaoke book
Echo ephemerally from underground bars
I’ve been reaching out all along
I’ve been failing to grasp it all along
Though insignificant, these are my footsteps
Though roundabout, they still form a straight path
I’ll likely never give up again
I’ve grown tired of giving up
Sunshowers poke playfully
The faintly colored buds of cherry blossoms
As if letting out a sigh, or a yawn,
I begin to walk once more, never learning my lesson
I’ll likely always keep reaching out
I’ll likely always fail to grasp it
Neverending…
Neverending… will be my ending
