The darkness was chilly
Just me, you, and the sound of pounding blood
We felt like words could let us fly anywhere
A blend of impatience and perceived omnipotence
Disgusting—I can’t see the point
Of counting the time as it repeats like the waves
But now, when we’ve broken each other’s wings
We might just be able to believe each other
But once we say the answer, we’ll never be able to go back
So let’s just stay curled up here
Darkroom, darkroom
Problem—this place was supposed to be all it took
To finally make us satisfied
If we could stay here unhurt
In this room drained of light or stimulus
We wouldn’t even have needed to be happy
How am I supposed to dig you up
Here in this world
Where countless tiny but beautiful needles grow?
Right—the fantasy flew away with that fresh pain
We don’t need to hold on to the future
Let’s just look down on everything, laughing from atop the stairs
Our eyes were so brilliantly red
That I stopped longing for the dawn sky
Just treading on each other’s shoes
Let’s face forward and pretend we don’t see
Darkroom, darkroom
Problem—this place was supposed to be all it took
To finally make us satisfied
If we could stay here unhurt
In this room drained of light or stimulus
We wouldn’t even have needed to be happy
All we needed to do was take flight
To stop us from longing for death
On the day you realized that
Your eyes shone purest black
And now I’m all alone in this room, and light’s made its way in
So… well then, I’ll be going now
Bye-bye
