I know that.
I do, but

Expectations are tricky.
Even when trying to pass them by,
The possibility of “it might be” nudges my back,
Fostering hope.

Even if I lose sight of what’s important,
The extended hand is warm.

Hiding my trembling heart,
I perform my aspirations in the limelight.
Behind the scenes, I wet my cheeks.
Nobody knows the real me.

“Accepting pain is human strength,”
Someone says.
I know that.
That I am weak.

I don’t want to compare,
But I catch myself glancing sideways.
If so, it would be nice if pain
Could be something visibly understandable.

Even when I detach the superfluous,
There’s regret I can’t dispose of.

In a loud voice so as not to tremble,
I act the opposite behind the scenes.
The song I hummed was a crying one.
I want to be a person fitting for tears.

So fragile that it might break,
Afraid of the shining light.
Even the flower that bloomed so beautifully

The passing days won’t stop.
Even when I reach out, I can’t get there.
I can’t remember with who I am now.

Decorating everything as it is,
The light shines on the back of my singing life.
I notice the tears in the corner of the seats.

手を伸ばしても届かなくて
今の私では覚えていられない

ありのまま全てを飾ることなく
生き様歌う背に光射す
