Y’know, that narrow path uphill… that summer vacation…
Felt oh so far away.
I’m sure you think there’s not much difference,
But once we become adults…

Knowing that we will probably never meet again,
I’m searching for a lifetime’s worth of words.
It’s so strange- I didn’t think my vocabulary
Was really this lacking…

By tomorrow, everyone will be gone… and the morning will come,
When we’ll learn of a trembling quite different than that of loneliness,
On a simply precious day of parting.

But don’t look back – we’ve gotta go!
Even if we can’t say, “See you again someday…”
I still remember that secret password
And the pure red sunsets that only exist after school.

Saying goodbye doesn’t quite fit us,
Even if our fate remains derailed far into the future.
We’ve managed to share this time together, at least in the beginning,
So even if everything were to disappear…
That one bond will never come undone!

When I think about it now, those fights we had…
Our secret shortcuts… how beautiful you were…
Our youth, coming separately to an end –
Every one of those days treated us so kindly.

Even if the only thing unchanged is our memories,
We only need one shining light,
To illuminate us when we go too far astray…
Just one is all we’ll need!

But don’t look back – it’s not much further!
No one has their young years last forever!
Even if we manage to stay clean, each time we’re worn down,
We just have to keep on searching.
