In a forgotten city,
Of piling ash,
I was searching for what I’d lost.

Even if you’d wished in your tiny voice,
With those red eyes,
I was covering my ears.

Rather than reaching out our hands,

Let’s bathe in the light that peaks through folds of night and sleep right where we lie –
Without being discovered by anyone.

Amidst these palely passing days,
I’m aware of an unfairness seeping in.

We’re held captive here by nothing more,
Than the deepness of the memory of us lying together,
Spreading our roots outward as we go on living.

If our hands were to overlap,
Would anything change?

Beyond the broken sky are a pair of large eyes fixed upon us;
In this land where morning never comes, we’re searching for a solitary light.

Between creaking nights,

A dry fretfulness.
