My shoes and old bag covered in blood
Like as if that had no meaning whatsoever
Left dirty as they are, getting thrown away

New weapons and only the kind memories
Innocently holding it up as I rejoiced
Wanting to stay unable to look away from this folly

If I continued to laugh as I threw out sand from the park that had gotten in my shoes…

The inn’s mud-stained windows and miniature light bulbs
had become the perfect place for hiding the loneliness of this trip

As I get better and better only on the surface
