A grimy screen door has been stuck in the back of my eyes
Wanting to see the blue sky, I longed for someone to open it
The more I wanted, the more tarnished I became
But being at someone’s side
Meant I existed here
Mornings just came, as did the nights
To be born just to die
There’s no meaning there
I talked to myself and festered
Like going through the motions of wiping the floor with a rag
Looking good just for form’s sake
I inhale the soaring dust
And cry as it makes me cough
Yet even then, a part of me was
Forever searching for love
Dreaming every day, waking up every day
Between dreams and reality
I hang with my feet dangling in the air
If the wind blows, I’m swept along with it
Sweat that streamed by running like crazy
I turned it into mere salt, such was life
The soles of my worn shoes
Were stuck with mud and pebbles
I’ll continue to walk in these shoes for the rest of my life
Because you, my light
Shined your light on tomorrow
Dreaming every day, waking up every day
Between dreams and reality
I hang with my feet dangling in the air
If the wind blows, I’m swept along with it
Sweat that streamed by running like crazy
I turned it into mere salt, such was life
By finding love, I found the meaning of life
