Today, an old woman
Watched the on she loved pass away
She writes an epilogue
As she waits for her time to come
“Before long… eventually… I’ll join you there”
She places a flower vase
Conversing with a past moment captured in a photo
Though once comforted by the sway of the cradle
The children have all grown up
They left the nest, just as they wished
And now live in the city
“We’ll find time to come see you”
She listens quietly to their voices through the phone
As if hearing a song from her memories
Everyone will, eventually
Make their way there
So I’ll live each day
With the will to live
And then
I will embrace you
My precious love
