“It’s usually just like that,” I thought
As the milk cooled with a sigh
Becoming body-warm, I decided it’s breakfast
Someone I once saw, passing by the window
Would we, from that day, have waved and smiled?
I forgot
Though I swore I wouldn’t forget
Just like skipping a small station on the journey
The dream’s bell beckons to the ending roll
At the platform for the “Youth” line, number five
Missing the line-up, I let out a sigh of relief
At the bottom of my heavy bag,
Lay a destination from ‘someday’
But surely, I remained standing still
Having overslept it all
The summer breeze’s path
Lined with clumsy dreams
Ah, why do we grow up?
Someone I once saw, passing by the window
That was us, from that day, waving and smiling
“How about waking from this dream?”
After how many years? An unfamiliar yet familiar face
It seems nothing remains unchanged
If it’s not too grand, may it come true
May you find it someday
All of us, too big for a B4 paper
Tucked away in a wrinkled jacket
The future I dreamt of often
Surely still waits,
Even as adults
Watching you go through the dream’s gate
I have no way to start walking
But if it leads back to those days…
I’ll go to see you again
Making sure not to forget anything
Rushing to the bell of dreams, the youth ticket
On platform number five, bound for regret
Nothing can stop us now
At the bottom of my heavy bag,
Lay a destination from ‘someday’
But surely, I remained standing still
Having overslept it all
